The collection includes correspondence and other material (including programs, clippings, scrapbooks, and photographs) collected by Mary Lula Williams and her husband J. Edwin Fleming. The correspondence primarily consists of letters to Mary Lula from friends, her parents and brother, and J. Edwin during her college years at Southern Methodist University, with other correspondence amongst family members. Other material collected by Mary Lula and J. Mary Lula Williams was born in 1915 or 1916 to Mr. and Mrs. J.P. (James Polk) Williams and grew up in Paris, Texas, where she graduated from Paris High School in 1934. She attended Southern Methodist University from 1934-1938, where she majored in Latin, English, and German, and was involved in Sigma Kappa Sorority, Mortar Board, and was a Rotunda Beauty.
